SP - Birch Class Visit Castle Farm

Birch Class from St. Paul's enjoyed a fantastic trip to Castle Farm

Birch Class enjoyed a fantastic trip to Castle Farm, where they explored the working farm and learned about the farm to fork journey of the food we eat. The visit gave pupils a real insight into how farms operate and the important role farmers play in producing food for our communities. Children were fascinated to see the scale of the farm and learn about the different crops and machinery used throughout the year.

During the day, pupils had the opportunity to walk through the fields and learn about the seasonal  cycles that farmers work with. They discussed how crops are planted, grown and harvested before eventually reaching our tables. Staff at the farm explained how careful planning and environmental awareness are essential in modern farming.

One of the highlights of the visit was seeing the large farm machinery up close and understanding how technology supports farmers in managing the land efficiently. Pupils asked thoughtful questions and were particularly interested in how farms balance food production with caring for the surrounding countryside.

The trip was a wonderful opportunity for hands-on learning outside the classroom. Birch Class returned to school full of enthusiasm and with a much deeper understanding of where our food comes from and the work that goes into producing it.
